NAME: Adelaide LeBlanc AGE: 36 NATIONALITY: Orlesian RACE: Human OCCUPATION: Spirit Healer, Surgeon TITLE: Councilor LeBlanc, Lady LeBlanc RANK: Enchanter |
HEIGHT: 5'5" BUILD: Lithe HAIR: Blonde EYES: Blue SKIN: Fair VOICE: Low, Clipped BEARING: Tense |
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: A distinct lack of scars, soft hands, a serious case of resting 'done with this shit' face, a thick Orlesian accent, herb stains on her fingertips, cold hands & breath when especially frustrated/angry. A bracelet of yellow fabric around her left wrist. |
Settled at the healing tents of Skyhold and playing chaperon to mages & apprentices that want to assist the Inquisition. As a member of the Inquisition's Council of Magi she tends to concerns brought to her and is making arrangements to continue the education of mages in the Inquisition, as well as foster a sense of community by encouraging mages both Circle and non to share what they've learned and how they learned it. Most of her day is spent in a tent set up for surgery/healing, the library researching, or whatever passes for a garden. At night she'll probably set herself up in silent vigil outside wherever her fellow mages are sleeping to mind them and their safety. Began a series of workshops to teach basic potions and poultices to the members of the Inquisition.
She's a talented healer, a passable surgeon, and has no patience for bullshit or gentle temperament for foolish patients. One of the relative moderate Mage Council members she may not entirely favor the attention of templars, but she does listen to their concerns; as well as concerns of mages about their place in the Inquisition. If you want someone skilled and discreet that won't ask questions? She's your woman. Tends to mind younger mages as best she's able to as one woman and can be seen sharing tea with the more civil templars now and then. Also her family is noble but that's not really a thing for her, she hasn't seen them in years.
Ill, injured, or carting around a sucking chest wound? Adele can fix that! Want to learn about healing magics or potions or poultices? Adele can teach that! Want to discuss mage rights or the place of the Chantry in their lives? She will have so many opinions. Want a grumpy mother hen? She will reluctantly do so for most younger mage types, perpetually worried after them.
+ Civil discourse / Peaceful Solutions + Keeping one's word / Honest Dealings + Compassion / Mercy + Pursuit of knowledge |
- Chantry Regulation of Magic - Violent Solutions - Destruction of knowledge - Deliberate war mongering |
GIFTS Adelaide has a preference for Orlesian wines (not Ferelden), blue or white irises, decorative hair bands & sticks, dried fruits, pressed flowers, and books about: spirit magic, potions, poultices, and anatomy. |

In Brief
➢ Tired
➢ 5'5
➢ Lithe
➢ Low, clipped voice
➢ Perpetual resting 'done with this shit' face
➢ Good with knives
➢ Not good with heights
➢ Good with Horses, riding, caring, etc
➢ Knows how to sail, fish, and mind a small sailboat
➢ Former ballerina
➢ Minor in Chemistry
➢ Major in Triage and Traumatic Injury
➢ Empathy: Is capable of experiencing the emotions and sensations of those around her, and projecting her emotions/sensations to others. She self medicates to block out the bulk of the white noise of the earth (eavesdropping on emotional states is rude) with a specialty compound she created for this exact purpose. A great deal of her visible composure and apparent apathy comes from her own control and medication to not soak up all the hurt, joy, sorrow, anxiety of everyone in her immediate vicinity.
➢ Injury transferrence, receiving: Can absorb the pain or physical injuries of others with skin to skin contact, or upon greater familiarity with her patient (an emotional bond), distance.
➢ Injury transference, broadcasting: Can inflict injuries she's sustained or absorbed to another party, often one in self-defense. It takes a lot more focus and intent than absorbing another person's injury, the more grievous it is? The more difficult, and the more drained she'll be afterward.
➢ Emotional Radar: Can trace the general distance and direction of someone she's formed an emotional bond with, like plucking a strand on a spiderweb. It's imprecise but a good indicator of life if nothing else.
history
Something more ended up an American music student studying and living abroad in Paris, Robert was inoffensive, charming enough for a young woman to make an impulsive life choice. They dated, they married young, and when Adele shifted her focus to medical school? Their honeymoon period ended in a hurry. Clashing schedules and overtime spent studying to catch up on what she missed while failing to succeed as a ballerina. Estranged from her husband by timing, career, and circumstance? Robert has an Affair, gambles away most of their money, and ends up indebted to an unsavory criminal element in Paris.
After bailing out her husband and divorcing him for his indiscretions, dealing with said criminal element and surviving through sheer luck, Adele was content to work as a surgeon in Lyon, occasionally vacationing in the US to visit her brother and his in-laws, until the sky opened up. Separated from her family, uncertain of their survival, unable to create more of the medication that helps her manage her empathy, Adele works while roaming, supplies stacked on a wooden cart, using a horse to avoid being caught up by the Judge's Scrapper Soldiers in their quest for metal.
personality
When she has her composure she can come off as stoic or even apathetic depending upon the situation. She attempts to react as little as possible in order to focus more on what needs to be done rather than feelings hurt by curt words. When she loses her composure the full of her temper shows. Under all this there is a compassionate, playful woman who had her reality shaken, much like the rest of the world. The helplessness and near futile attempt to keep people alive, to continue surviving has left her wary and frustrated, covering her hurt with anger is easier than extending any kind of trust or camaraderie. People die so quickly, so often, it's difficult to know when she ought to put in the effort. Glimmers of who she used to be slip out occasionally, but it's rare, often when she's drinking or tending to younger people, being a bitch to teens and kids doesn't make the situation better for anyone.
Most gentleness she once had in treating her patients is stamped out by practicality. If she bleeds for each patient she'll have no blood left for anyone else. She doesn't gentle her speech if someone is acting dense, has little patience for fools and less for those that do. If she is treating a child Adele is patient and forgiving of their fear and foolishness. Despite her harsh demeanor, Adele does care for people- she simply does not trust them. No matter why a patient is in her care she treats them to the best of her ability. She may curse their idiocy with every stitch and pill but she will fix them. She does her job, she does it well, and if things become more difficult it only makes her all the more certain that it is worth being done.
When not working or studying she is somber but laxer with her speech, slightly less formal and more sarcastic. She prefers soft, cutting remarks rather than witty repartee unless she's speaking with someone she trusts or cares about, which are few. She does have a sense of humor; it's a dry, morbid one. It's not recommended to ever ask 'what's the worst that can happen' around her, Adele will list every probable option. In great detail.
Adele, above all else, needs to feel in control of herself. Any loss of composure is a failure as she holds herself to a high standard as what she assumes is the last member of, if not a famous bloodline, a noble enough one. Keeping composed, keeping calm in the face of the world they live in now is nigh impossible but she attempts it all the same so others feel comfortable breaking.

SPIRIT HEALER TRAINING
![]() Not all entities of the Fade are demonic. Many are benevolent spirits consisting of life energy, and these benign spirits of fortitude, compassion, hope and the like rarely seek to cross the Veil, but can sometimes be persuaded to protect and restore life, rather than corrupt or destroy it as demons would. As spirit healers we focus on channeling the energies granted by these spirits, making us indispensable in times of war and peace and capable of feats of magic beyond the scope of the school of Creation. We open a door in the veil to channel their power, mend flesh and cure illness. Such power is not without risk- for all that we gain this path is a dangerous one. Contacting anything beyond the Veil inevitably draws the notice of demons, more often than not they are powerful. Many tales have been told of a spirit healer being fooled by a demon masquerading as a benevolent spirit and inadvertently bringing them across the Veil... or being tricked into letting down their guard, and possessed. As such, once a you become a Spirit Healer you must be vigilant for the remainder of your life. Once this door is opened? There is no closing it. Councilor LeBlanc |
"While healing spells do exist, spirit healers are well known for taking healing and restoration far beyond a standard mage’s capabilities. In effect, the spirit healer summons a benevolent spirit through the veil and that spirit uses its abilities on the mage’s behalf."
Adelaide is a Spirit Healer and available to train others in the fine art of Spirit Healing. As it is not without it's risks she's careful in the teaching and in who she chooses to teach but if you got a mage with a mind to learn, she's happy to spread the knowledge. Her requirements are few:
» Necessary: Be a mage.
She can walk non-mages through the theory but to really understand it and get the most out of it? Need to be a mage or magically inclined as a Rifter.
» Need to have an aptitude for Spirits & Spirit Magic.
There's a reason Spirit Healers are rare and it isn't only the danger involved in the practice- those with the aptitude are few. It takes dedicated study, a solid understanding of Spirits and how they think as they work closely with them in order to perform their feats of healing, and a fair amount of skill in the Creation and Spirit schools of magic. Adelaide is exacting in her lessons; if a mage is merely mediocre for their own safety and those of their future patients, she will not continue the lessons.
» Understanding the risks.
Opening yourself to the fade to contact spirits means opening yourself to demons. Undead are likewise attracted to spirit healers- as are confused spirits and ghosts on this side of the veil. If a student can't handle this or learn to deal it is best they don't continue. A heightened vigilance against demons is required as well, learning how to tell the difference between them and spirits will save your life.
» Compatibility with a Benevolent Spirit.
» Training will include focus drills, multitasking, collaborative healing/casting, and theoretical studies on spirits with practical study done via fade meditations.
» The Final Exam includes finding and earning the trust of your own partner spirit- every spirit handles the relationship differently, every mage works out their agreement in their own way. If you aren't sure how to go about it hit me up and I'll be happy to help you sort out what works best. If you don't know what spirit suits your character either, I'm also happy to help with that!

The LeBlanc Noble Family and Spouses
![]() ![]() ![]() Melisende & Gabriel LeBlanc |
The latest Matriarch of the LeBlanc family has continued the grand tradition of beneficial marriages to improve the family's standing- though for her part she set her sights on the entirety of Thedas rather than remaining purely in Orlais. She is a determined, boisterous woman that conducts social calls and events much like business meetings, hailing back to the family's merchant roots of generations ago. Rather than trade furs or silks they now trade in influence and information, gaining momentum in The Grand Game with every successful match and transaction. Melisende has high ambitions for her family and is more than willing to play the long game to see them rise. Gabriel is, by all appearances, a silent, stoic supporter of his wife's machinations- often overlooked in favor of her commanding presence. His skill lies in being approachable where his wife may seem too much, in being subtle and silent in their dealings, and is known well for his discretion. They've taken a 'wait and see' stance on the current upheaval in Orlais, waiting to back the right play. |

A somber and decisive woman, Angeline runs her household with all the military precision expected of the wife of a tactical adviser and descendant of dragon slayers. She says little and listens well, making the most of what words she does have to spare. Caspar is a warrior in his own right but has stepped away from active combat to train other noble sons and daughters; including their eldest, Hildegard. All show some skill in combat but only she seems to be making a profession of it. The family is known for their somewhat stoic presence in social events and patronship not only of the arts but of the mages that may hope to join the Mortalitasi. |

The Lowell family is known well for their breeding and training of Mabari hounds, something that Juliette has taken to with great enthusiasm. Murmurs have been made over the years of larger pups from the latest litters, more keen and fierce war dogs that may or may not be true. She cares for them as she would her own blood, her twin children working alongside to raise and train the hounds that are then gifted or purchased by nobility and warriors alike. Garrick minds the alliances made by promising certain lines of breeding to certain families and minds they manage only the most prosperous of dealings. |

Marizo may or may not have a Cell of Crows at his disposal that he inherited, the rumor has not been confirmed nor denied. He himself may be a Crow but this, too, has no evidence. CR Chart
❝COLE❞
Neutral A strange young man delivering spiders from the basement to the garden. Hw survived the Spire, somehow, why he was there she can't say. But he means well, he's terribly kind and that is worth more than she can say. |
❝SALVATORE❞
Neutral A mage with diplomatic leanings, Adelaide approves of his desire to at least discuss things in a civil and mediated manner, that he went out of his way to support both sides of an inflammatory argument surrounding templars and mages is to his credit. Recently she expressed concerns on his behalf and though he is in no way her responsibility nor is she beholden to him, she worries after his wellbeing in light of said concerns. |
❝LENNETH❞
Neutral Were she asked to describe how Lenneth seems to her, Adeliade would call her an Arcane Warrior or Knight Enchanter. With the weight of magic about her but the obvious battle prowess present in her bearing and armor there is no question of Lenneth's skill- nor her determination to be seen as what she is rather than a demon. Adelaide must commend her bravery if nothing else. |
❝MARTEL❞
Friendly An ass. An educated, charming, capable and amusing ass- but still. An ass. He's made no true recompense for how they met and aside from an explanation, Adelaide does not expect to ever be granted one; but since then has proven himself capable of at least shades of social grace when it pleases him. Martel is a puzzle that she cannot quite sort out, for every piece she flips over to see the truth of his colors the less what has already been shown make any sense. But she has come to trust him, somewhat, if only for the fair deal of sense he speaks, damn him. |
❝JAMIE❞
Friendly A fair hand in a fight and excellent backup against demons- Adelaide approves of his willingness to handle an unfamiliar situation with a fair amount of confidence. It isn't easy being spit into a new reality and he's done well by her estimate. As he continues to adjust and share bits of his life and world with her, she too attempts to find what is familiar to ease the transition. The gift of a Bagged Pipe seems to have done a lot of the heavy lifting for her. Jamie's stability in a time of turmoil has long since earned him Adelaide's respect, his playful nature and patience? Has earned her friendship. |
❝SIMON❞
Warm A troubled young mage that seems weighed down by more than the status of the world or the war. Whatever it is that has him fear for his safety and his sisters? Adelaide would be happy to alleviate. For now all she can do is make certain he doesn't overwork himself and that he's aware she is available should he or is sister need help. |
❝DORIAN PAVUS❞
Friendly
Not evil, not a magister, not nice. Pleasant, certainly. Proper? Of course. Terribly reasonable. Nudged Adelaide to do something about the mage thing and she alternately respects and loathes him for it. Despite her initial assumptions they've become some manner of friends, biting, bitching, drinking frineds, but friends none the less. He knows her sad story and she knows shades of his; it's left her fiercely protective of him, even if how they met was less than glamorous and his habit of letting emotion override his good sense on occasion leaves her annoyed with how he's often not wrong. If he were an evil, wrong, magister ignoring him would be so much easier. |
❝CASSANDRA❞
Neutral A remarkable woman that does remarkable things and commands authority with an ease Adelaide envies even if she doesn't want any herself. Cassandra is more or less living legend and well worth following. |
❝THE IRON BULL❞
Neutral Large. Intimidating. Capable. Broad- in a way she hasn't seen before and- well she supposes it makes him attractive. Aesthetically speaking, of course. She's not at all flustered by him, not in the slightest, though she is terribly intrigued. |
❝Nahariel❞
Neutral Inquisitive and capable, Nahariel has offered to keep an eye out for seeds the garden has need of. Her patience and optimism and eagerness to do what she can to help the Inquisition in whatever way she can gives Adelaide some hope for what is to come. |
❝Siuona❞
Warm
A rather delicate young elf that's come to aid the Inquisition while suffering from some manner of shard similar to the rifts in her chest. Adelaide does not know how to help, but she does hope that something can be done to make Sina's life easier. Continued research has come up empty but until they find something? She and Sina continue to work to better both the garden for the Inquisition and her condition as best they can. A constant, soothing presence when settled, Adelaide takes time to have tea with her as often as they can manage. |
❝BELETH ASHARA❞
Neutral Mischievous but not malicious- as far as she can tell. |
❝PEL ASHARA❞
Friendly
Pel continues to be most forthright and emphatic in her beliefs and resolutions for the Mage Council, which is admirable; but her blunt nature leaves Adelaide concerned for her ability to compromise. Even compromises feel something like a battle and less like an agreement; though she attributes that to the nature of the Council's lack of other elven members and the surplus of circle mages. Outside of the Council chamber, when they set their obligations aside, they're more friendly. Pel's perspective is valuable; even if her politics are inflammatory. |
❝Korrin Ataash❞
Friendly
Not to be trifled with- or to be wound up. Hopefully it won't happen in the hold or there will be fire. That she's standing with the Inquisition and offering her thoughts and perspectives in the Council of Magi? Earns her Adelaide's respect. That she is trying to endure the continued existence of templars without being baited or baiting in turn? Doubles it. The balance they must strike is not a simple one but Korrin is trying when she's never had cause to do before and for that Adelaide finds her remarkable. |
❝Nerva Lecuyer❞
Hostile
Imperious, meddling, and stubborn, this is a templar that exemplifies almost everything Adelaide loathes in them. The fact that she doesn't seem to see mages as anything more than dangerous animals? Does her no favors. |
❝Leonard Church❞
Warm
Not a Spirit. No idea what he actually is but- not a Spirit. A half decent clown, perhaps. |
❝JAMES NORRINGTON❞
Neutral Civil, sensible, and sarcastic. As a man? Someone she can respect. As a templar? Someone she remains cautiously wary about if only due to past experiences. |
❝VARRIC TETHRAS❞
Interested
A charming man unlike any that Adelaide has ever met. A single conversation in a tavern has made them friendly acquaintances if nothing else- the odd round of tea or ale or whatever is on hand when they've time for one another lasts long enough for some editing, some discussion, and some friendly flirting. Or rather Varric uses lines and Adelaide does her best to return in kind. She hasn't quite gotten the knack of it yet but neither of them mind taking their time in this. |
❝TWISTED FATE❞
Neutral A Dalish magician and cardshark, of sorts, one that prompts pranks and good cheer. Her students like him well enough and he has good taste in wine, as well as sense enough to understand her concerns about the safety of those she minds. She's grateful to him for that. |
❝DETLEF❞
Interested
The first other Spirit Healer Adelaide has met in the Inquisition. The first peer she's been able to speak to that understands her concerns, her work, her training. Life has not been kind to Detlef, that much she knows well but that he can still be kind to her, still be charming, and seems to delight in both academic debate as well as blatant flirtations? It is...shades of something she has not had in her life for years. There is much she'd like to know more of him and their daily meetings for academic discourse (on her part) tea (on both their parts) and flirting (on his part) is something she looks forward to greatly; all the more so in times of stress. |
❝Samouel Gareth❞
Friendly Large and kind, Sam's wormed his way into Adelaide's esteem quickly by being helpful to her students and to most everyone he's around in Skyhold, and by being an attentive and capable student. He has a talent for spirit magic and healing that needs polish but he has come far. Over time he's become as dear to her as those she counts as her responsibility; she is of his progress and is readying him for seeking out his spirit partner. |
❝GALADRIEL❞
Interested In all her years no living thing has stunned Adelaide quite so quickly and thoroughly as Galadriel. She is everything she's ever thought a spirit in the flesh might be- graceful, glowing, decisive and kind. That she has some of the Lady's attention and perhaps even her favor flusters her, she remains in quiet awe of Galadriel and does not know how to handle the life debt between them. She's subtly attracted and alternatively dazzled by her; but nothing shall ever come of it and that? Makes it safe. |
❝MARTIN WALKER❞
Neutral While nothing in or of him is familiar, Martin is very much a soldier and warrior- though a troubled one. Something seems to have him unsettled beyond finding himself in this world. Irritated by his skepticism for her skills and that of her fellow healers, Adelaide isn't entirely certain what to make of him. |
❝BRUCE❞
Warm Much like herself Bruce pours a good deal of his time and effort into keeping the injured to a minimum- tending to the sick and mending wounds as best he can. Also like her he has a tendency to continue working far too long without a break- their now daily moments of quiet and tea have given her a solid appreciation of his unassuming company. It is not often she is allowed to simply be around a person, even if they aren't speaking. A valued confident and someone she considers a friend, Bruce has become a much needed safe haven for Adelaide where she might speak without fear of derision or judgement; more than once he's helped her settle her perspective when she felt fit to unravel entirely. |
❝CULLEN RUTHERFORD❞
Warm Commander of the Inquisition's forces and guard, he has her eternal gratitude for offering her and the remainder of the refugees a place. Sensible if harried, she has the utmost respect for him and what he must likely endure. He's earned her respect for his attempts to corral the templars, for his working through lyrium withdrawal, and his consideration for the plight of mages. He's lost some for being a typical manly stoic about dealing with that pain, and for throwing himself headfirst into danger. All in all, it balances out. |
❝RIVER❞
Warm Something in River reminds Adelaide of Cole, of her own Spirit- but not quite so much that the comparison is easily made. She is not well and for that? She has Adelaide's sympathy and protection should she or her brother require it. |
❝Cremisius Aclassi❞
Friendly Somehow dove headfirst into Adelaide's favor with a particularly aching heart to heart about relationships and life. Calls her mamman and Adelaide is determined to be worthy of the endearment. She does as best she can for him and he, in turn, keeps himself alive and her informed of his absences should he need to take them. She's cautiously supportive of his blossoming relationship with Sam, though her reservations have less to do with the assumed issues and more with her cynical outlook on life in general. |
❝Alistair❞
Neutral A meddling fool that makes light of things he either doesn't understand or doesn't have a place in meddling. If he were a proper Templar she'd mind less. Slightly, but less. They're friendly enough in their dislike of one another for the mot part in that she does not loathe him entirely- but the recent incident with Felix has left her far more bitter about him and his actions than previous- what had been amusing dislike has now turned quite sharp and cold. |
❝Felix Alexius ❞
Friendly
A young ill man from Tevinter with a wasting illness. Adelaide is equally charmed by and saddened by him. Whatever comfort she might offer? She has. He's come to endear himself to her with his kindness and consideration even while blighted, his ability to keep Felix on some manner of even keel is much appreciated- with the Wardens having 'cured' she is uncertain as to how often they will see one another. |
❝GAVIN ASHARA❞
Neutral Sam's friend. Polite enough? A little puzzling but- to her most Dalish are. |
❝Benevenuta Thevenet❞
Friendly
Obviously comfortable speaking in public and handling delicate conversations, Adelaide is glad to have someone else attempt to steer the discussion aside from Dorian- or Dorian baiting her into doing so. Even if they're twice as much trouble around one another. Even if this fey young woman acts so terribly young and remains so terribly graceful in the face of difficulties with the Council. Even if she is determined to drive Adelaide to distraction with worrying after her keeping warm or keeping safe with her continued association with various templars. Despite all this Adelaide is terribly fond and looks to Benevenuta as she might a sister; for all that she doesn't know what it is to have one. |
❝Christine Delacroix❞
Friendly
A fellow Orlesian healer, Adelaide enjoys Christine's company and assisting her in her studies. She's another slice of familiarity in a strange place surrounded by quite a bit that is foreign; having another bit of home or at least something close to it? Is a boon. So far in their lessons Christine has done well, and Adelaide is hopeful for what she might achieve in the time to come. Little by little she is becoming more like family- and is someone that Adelaide attempts to check in with as often as possible to ensure her well-being. |
❝Sabriel Abhorsen❞
Warm
Easily the most sensible and level headed individual in the discussion, Adelaide is glad for the grounding point of view Sabriel offers. It's a different perspective, but one worth hearing. That she is a Warden is honorable indeed- save for when their secrets seem to take precedence over the treatment of a patient. Nevermind that they 'cured' Felix, Adelaide finds the mysterious method questionable on principle. Not so much as to leave her suspicious of Sabriel personally, she's always been forthright about the Grey Wardens coming before her obligations as a Councilor and even though she does not understand? Adelaide can respect that. |
❝CECIL❞
Neutral A strange man with a steady, soothing voice; full of questions and opinions. She's arranged for an interview of some sort over the crystals. |
❝Kallian Endris❞
Neutral An apostate Spirit Healer that doesn't wish to be known as a mage. Without understanding the entirety of why- Adelaide is somewhat disappointed, but determined to help her feel safe in the Inquisition. |
❝Ellana Ashara❞
Neutral A council member that shares a seat with Pel, Ellana is better suited to the people part of the equation, but seems a bit more trusting than Adelaide knows what to do with. She is kind and kind hearted, gentle in her ways and terribly compassionate, which is commendable. |
❝Vivienne❞
Warm
A prominent figure in Orlesian politics, a terribly skilled player of the Game and a loud loyalist. Adelaide didn't expect to get on half so well with Vivienne. She is everything Adelaide stepped away from by entering the Spire, everything she buried herself in her studies to avoid- and almost everything she needs to become if she hopes to manage anything to help her cause. Vivienne's interactions with her students warms her through, her support in the Council is invaluable. |
❝Mia Rutherford❞
Neutral A caretaker at heart that works just as hard as any healer to ensure that the people of Skyhold are well and that those running it? Do not overwork themselves. Cullen's sister is as stubborn and sensible as her younger brother, something that Adelaide is beginning to assume is hereditary. |
❝SCIPIO❞
Neutral A vexing Antivan warden that thinks himself charming and funny. He is neither. |

Offensive Subjects: None come to mind, check in with me if you think something heavy/awful is gonna come up.
IC
Hugging: Not a good idea right now, if she's not the one to initiate physical contact? She'll lock up, jerk away, or reflexively shove whoever it is reaching for her unless she's given plenty of warning. Even then she'll probably say no.
Kissing: Same as the above, with harder shoving, swearing, and the potential for a paralysis rune being drawn under them to give her time to get away. She's- not in a good way for physical affection she's not prepared for or initiating.
Flirting: She'll reply in the driest, most sarcastic way possible to dissuade the entire matter. Other things that need doing, why are you even? No. Continued attempts if they seem sincere might fluster her- she hasn't had much experience in the tower with actual flirtation and- yeah. What do?
Further Intimacy: Oddly more comfortable with this than the hugging, kissing, or flirting but again, she should be the one to initiate and that's not gonna happen unless she's very comfortable with the other person in question and at least mildly intoxicated.
Relationships: HAHAHHAHAH friendships sure. Um. More? She has baggage to work through first. Be a bro.
Fighting: She's a healer, not a warrior, so she'll try to immobilize the other party and spam flee like there's no tomorrow. Get in touch and I'll work with you!
Injuring: Talk it out with me first and I'm down.
Killing: Please no? Pretty please no?
Telepathy: Lots of swearing in the common tongue and Orlesian. So much swearing. That's what you'll find.
Warnings: She's jumpy and twitchy and paranoid and kind of rude right now, it'll change!

Interests: Adele's recently been through the wringer with what happened at the White Spire in Dragon Age Asunder and I'd like to get her to process it and face her distrust of the Chantry and Templars, as well as step forward to protect the interest of her fellow rebel mages in a nonviolent manner. Playing shepard to a group of mages and apprentices that wish to joing the Inquisition will take up most of her time, as will patching up people too dumb to keep from getting hurt.

Race: Human
Nationality: Orlesian
Occupation: Spirit Healer / Surgeon
Age: 36
History
- Born in 9:06 Dragon to a noble Orlesian family, youngest of six sisters. Brought up to be perfect and poised but struggles with it. She dreams of spirits that watch over her and urge her to be kind to those less fortunate but doesn't have an opportunity to do so, or a chance to really understand what's being asked. Balancing that with the strategic upbringing at such a young age is difficult for her.
- Manifested her magic at the age of 8 by freezing a fancy fountain while distressed at one of her mother's parties. There'd been an argument with one of her sisters about giving food to one of their servants and the rest found them to join in. She became angry and froze the fountain. At this point she was glad to go to the circle and not have to deal with the stress of being noble as she wasn't good at it. She is sent to the Circle of Magi at the White Spire.
- Focuses her studies on the creation healing magic and anatomy, using books from Nevarran necromancers to better understand how to be more efficient in healing.
- Undergoes her harrowing at the age of 17, passes with minimal difficulty due to experience with spirits.
- Becomes an Enchanter at 25, starts tutoring mages and apprentices in spirit and healing magics.
- Is sent on the odd service journey to heal people in need at the behest of the Chantry, usually with a templar and guide in tow.
- After the burning of the Circle of Magi in Starkhaven and the explosion in Kirkwall, tensions rise in the White Spire, Adele focuses on her studies, urges her fellow mages to remain calm and wait it out.
- Doubles down on her spirit healing specialty, takes up surgical techniques to be more effective.
- Murders begin in the White Spire, Adele keeps her head down, keeps studying with the other mages. When one of them goes missing she does what she can to keep her students calm but it's difficult with increasing hostilities from the templars.
- News of a way to reverse the rite of Tranquility gets Adele curious and changes the course of her research.
- Fights her way out during the massacre at the White Spire, herding younger mages and apprentices out before templars can find and kill them. Without anywhere else to go she steers them to Andoral's Reach, spending her time there with training the refugee mages as best she can with her limited experience and healing all that join them.
- Upon word of the formation of the Inquisition, Adele travels there in hopes of finding protection for the mages at Andoral's Reach, accompanying volunteer mages that wish to join, and preventing another massacre in a time of war.
Personality
Adele is pragmatic, proud, and paranoid at first glance; a reaction to the massacre at the White Spire. Templars and the Chantry are both sore points with her and she treats both with wary suspicion if not outright hostility. What faith she had for the system, the place of either organization in the world of mages has been shattered completely. Likewise her frustrations with her fellow mages that take the more violent route before diplomacy leads her to lead an almost solitary life beyond lending her skills to those in need or advocating for a peaceful resolution.
When she has her composure she can come off as stoic or even apathetic depending upon the situation. She attempts to react as little as possible in order to focus more on what needs to be done rather than feelings hurt by curt words. When she loses her composure the full of her temper shows. Under all this there is a compassionate, playful woman who had her faith shaken. The betrayal of the system she adhered to her whole life has left her wary and frustrated, covering her hurt with anger is easier than extending that trust again. Glimmers of who she used to be slip out occasionally, but its rare, often when she's teaching or tending to the mages and apprentices that she's claimed as her responsibility. The system failed them, she cannot.
Despite her harsh demeanor Adele does care for people- she simply does not trust them. No matter why a patient is in her tent she treats them to the best of her ability. She may curse their idiocy with every poultice and spell but she will fix them. She does her job, she does it well, and if things become more difficult it only makes her all the more certain that it is worth being done.
When not healing or teaching she is somber but more lax with her speech, slightly less formal and more sarcastic.
Any loss of composure is a failure as she holds herself to a high standard as a role model. She must be perfect for her students, no matter how stressful it may make life for her.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Spells & Sundry
- Healer-
Most proficient with healing magic, Adele is an adept spirit healer with training in the Spirit and Creation schools, with a preference for rejuvenation and anything focused on defensive or preventative measures. Shielding and dispelling enemy enchantments as well as amplifying the power of the mages around her or buffering her allies from spells or damage, disrupting enemy attack and mending everyone after the battle rather than attacking outright is what she prefers. - Enchanter-
She is skilled in ice spells, though these aren't used as often due to her focus on healing. In a pinch she can raise a wall of ice or cause an obscuring blizzard for a hasty retreat. As a mage she's not overly skilled in martial combat but is capable of defending herself from most thugs or the average brigand with her staff. Against a trained warrior? Not so much. She depends more on glyphs and haste to stall them while spamming flee.
Practical Applications
- Surgeon-
Well educated through the White Spire Adele has taken a vested interest in the building blocks of human, elven, and dwarven anatomy in order to make herself a more efficient healer. She's taught herself a handful of surgical techniques, not enough to perform anything more complicated than suturing up a wound but enough to look like she knows what she's doing while covertly mending the injury with magic. It helps her take the guise of a mere surgeon rather than a mage if the environment is hostile for mages. - Herbalist-
Why use magic for an aching head when a potion of poultice will suffice? Adele's studied herbalism and medicinal horticulture extensively to, again, make her a more efficient physician and provide multiple means of treating a body's aches, pains, and lacerations. At any given moment she's experimenting with tonics, tinctures, or poultices to find what has the best effect for what injury. She has some knowledge of what to avoid and a moderate understanding of how to counteract some basic poisons. - Miscellany-
Noble raised and tower educated in Orlais, Adele's got a decent grasp of most of the larger political mechanization as they applied to the White Spire, Chantry law, the schools of magic (in theory), the fade, communicating with spirits, wine and it's creation, and social etiquette.
Cracks in the Ice
- Paranoia & practicality-
Adele is no great warrior nor master of stealth. She's a squishy mage, thoroughly aware of it, and makes do as best she can with the skills she has available. It means running from a fight rather than engaging herself. She's also endured a recent trauma with the events at the White Spire and it's kept her from sleeping well, minding her temper around templars or the Chantry, and distrustful at best and almost irrationally suspicious of them at worst. She won't be winning any real points for diplomacy anytime soon. - Contractual Obligations-
Part of the deal she has made with the Spirit of Compassion that she channels for her healing is to not use her magic to cause bodily harm or kill. Loopholes for the sake of mercy could be made but it's never come up in Adele's experience.
Inventory
- A set of Surgeon's tools (scalpel, sutures, needles, tweezers, etc)
- Healing potions & Poultices, salves, ointments, dried herbs, bandages
- Navarran tome on anatomy and physiology (corpse studies, illustrated)
- Mage's Staff
- A bottle of Orlesian wine
- PTSD
Motivation
A desire to find a peaceful resolution for the challenges mages face and find a safe place for her fellow refugees in Ardoral's Reach. Keeping them safe as they continue their studies and safe from any overzealous templars is a high priority for her. Also: Anywhere with that many warriors will need healers in a time of war, and she is obligated to heal those that have need of her.
