On Spirits & Spirit Healing | Written, published |
A short essay on the workings of spirits and the partnership required to be a spirit healer. | page length: five, handwritten. |
...every spirit has it's purpose and it's intent, it's name makes up the entirety of it's will and what it does in the fade. Finding a compatible spirit demands an understanding of your own intent for the power with which you will be entrusted and an awareness that not every spirit may match that intent well. All Spirit Healers use their spirits to heal, to protect and mend the wounds of their patients. But doings so merely for profit will not work well for a Spirit of Justice, nor will using their power to flee be acceptable to a Spirit of Valor or Fortitude...
Basic Potions & Poultices | Written, Published |
Introductory lecture notes for her weekly Potion & Poultice classes. | page length: ten, handwritten with diagrams. |
...on occasions when the wound is more internal than external, or to recover from a general malaise; make use of a potion. When a topical application is more prudent, make use of a salve or a poultice. Poultices and potions are not interchangeable, pouring a potion on the wound will not have the same effect as ingesting it, attempting to consume a poultice will freshen one's breath and stain their teeth green- but not mend their wounds as effectively as...
Common Spirits of the Fade | Written, published |
An essay on the common spirits of the fade and how to differentiate them from one another. | page length: ten, handwritten. |
...may not always make sense but to them? We make none. Spirits do not remember nor learn quite the same as humans do; even continued association does not change this. Thus you can meet the same spirit of Compassion in the fade several times and they may not recall you terribly well. Spirits of Justice tend to have longer memories- Fortitude and Patience have the longest memories on record though measuring them is difficult. More commonly found in dreams rather than meditations...
Ice and it's Applications | Written, Published |
Practical uses for ice magic beyond attack and defense, how to build ice structures for shelter. | page length: eight, handwritten with diagrams. |
...as seen in Fig 8. this formation offers the most effective wind break to prevent a fire from blowing out while on the plains, and offers enough insulation to heat the structure within five to ten minutes provided it is of ample size. An extension similar to that of Fig. 8b can double the capacity of the living space while minimizing visibility, providing a safe, subtle haven...

Life in the Inquisition, Vol 1. | Written, Published |
Unbiased notes and observations of the people of the Inquisition and Life in Skyhold. | page length: 10, handwritten. |
...largest obstacle by far is room. Skyhold is a fortress of old but it has fallen into ruin. The advisors of the Inquisition have worked hard to see it rebuilt and restructured; but as refugees and soldiers pour in from Ferelden, The Free Marches, and Orlais, what is already limited becomes scarce indeed. Healing tents meant for the treatment of the ill are converted into makeshift dwellings come nightfall, what few rooms that do not have holes in the walls hold anywhere from a family of five to our own situation- fifteen mages with their bedrolls trying to sleep in a room meant for, perhaps, six at the most. Some sleep in chairs in the Library, some in the stables, and the valley is full of the tents of those that cannot find room in the hold proper...
Proper Patient Protocol | Written, Published |
Point by Point breakdown of how to handle Problematic Patients. | page length: 4, handwritten. |
...maintain their comfort if not their dignity at all times. If you are to heal? Heal. Platitudes and promises that you cannot keep do you no justice and will not settle the patient as much as you would think. If they continue to squirm or flinch away from your hands offer a topical numbing agent- or brandy. If they are children offer them a sweet- candied apricots or slices of orange are cheap, easy to buy in bulk, and serve well enough to keep them occupied while you work. If they are fully grown, not prone to drinking, and still difficult? Suggest they apply the treatment themselves. After they (invariably) fail to do so, resume treatment. Try not to be smug- it isn't productive to positive relations with your patient.

Haste- not just for running from bears. | page length: 4, handwritten with diagrams. |
...important to do your first attempt with a cooking pot you are not overly attached to and at a great distance. Do not seal the pot- the build up of pressure can create a small explosion and shrapnel. I recommend putting a protective barrier between yourself and the pot for your first few attempts for this very reason...

...an unprecedented opportunity to share techniques, lessons, and spellwork among members of various circles as well as those that were never taught in a Circle. To compare the structured nature of magic verses an organic learning curve and adapt to many different styles of spellcasting in order to better combine spells in the field. Provided Circle Mages check their pretension at the door and Apostates bite their tongue about the prisons from which the circle mages came, a better understanding can come about... |
